old photo (scrapbook) monday

Two older scrap book pages from years ago. Griff on a field trip to 'Pioneer Village' (one I remember oh so well, being a chaperon) and Griff busy doing his homework. Looking back at these pages from my scrap booking days motivated me to actually get something going again!

About 2 weeks ago, I made a label and attached it to an album ... but that was it (pitiful)

A few days ago, I got together all Griff's 6th grade papers and photos (notice the picture of Griff and all the girls at a school dance. lol)...

And last night I actually did a cover page (1st day of school last year) - very simple, which is just my style when it comes to scrap booking. Took me about an hour though!

You scrapbookers will get a kick out of this. I got out my Revolution thingy that cuts the letters to use on this page, but could not for the life of my figure out how to use it! I had only used it a few times (at least a year or maybe 2 ago), so I had to go on line and watch a tutorial! ;)

It's been months since I posted any of my old photos, so I thought it would be fun to post old scrap booking layouts too. Layouts that I did back in the day when I was a 'garden girl' at Two Peas in a Bucket. I am also hoping this may give me the motivation I need to do some scrapping again.

My very dear scrapbooking & blogging friend, Christina started the old photo posting a while back and I joined in. Most Mondays, I forget to do this though. There was a tag on flickr this past weekend which reminded me :).

This photo is actually a full shot of me sitting in my pretty dress, but for some reason my scanner won't pick up the entire photo ... so just a cut off head shot here. I think my mother trimmed my bangs, think they are short enought?! This was before I had enough hair for her to roll in the pink sponge rollors every night! I am betting she had a hard time getting the bangs straight, so just keep making them shorter ;)

Well, here I am again with another animal, this time a big ole' turtle. Is no wonder I didn't grow up to be a veterinarian or zoo keeper with all the time I spent with animals (at least many of my childhood photos seem to suggest this). I do love animals though, especially my own little pups. That is my older brother leaning on the pole (he reminds my of 'Ope' - not sure if I spelled that right -from The Andy Griffith Show) and I have no idea who the boy holding me is.

Old Photo Monday

I haven't done this since old photo post way before Christmas, but want to continue. It's a good way to get my old photos scanned in and burned to a disc. Although I don't have many more photos of myself growing up, I plan on starting with my boys older photos. Of course, most of Barret & Connor's photos are all trimmed into lovely shapes (stars, ovals, diamonds, some with scalloped edges!) Oh, why did I have to purchase every single item CM sold back 10 years ago and why didn't someone take those darn shape templates and decorative scissors away from me! I swear I have about 10 albums filled with my poor pictures ruined :(.

One of my childhood friend's birthday parties. I believe it was the girl next to me, Debbie in the cute cowgirl outfit.

That's me second from the left in the white dress, of course I have my curls going -I am sure my mom set my hair in those pink spong curlers the night before. And, look behind me, looks like I have a veil on (I must have wanted the party to be a 'bride' party with my white dress and wedding veil!).

Look at our party hats, I think they are those little tin containers that pot pies use to come in with pom poms glued around as trim. AND ... look at my horsey (stick horses, I believe they were called - you use to 'ride' them around) - LOL, he seems to be a bit larger than the other girls. Quite the mouth on that fella! Looks like 'Mr. ED'  the talking horse to me. Anyone remember that tv show - 'a horse is a horse of course of course, unless it's Mr ED ...'? He is stylin'  quite a fancy bonnet (all dress up for the party!). Come to think of it, maybe that veil is the horseys?!

Also, I have to add: I recognized my legs right away in this photo - I still stand just like that, with my heels in, toes out. Same legs!

I missed doing this old photo post the past few weeks.  I am saving all the few childhood photos to a disc and eventually I'd like to have some of the better pictures restored.

Here I am on my pet dinosaur :). I think I am in my jammies and it looks like my momhas my hair in pin curls! Her never-ending attempts to have a little girl with curls :) ...

This photo cracks me up.  3 month old, chubby me and I CAN NOT BELIEVE my mother has me dressed in a 'wife beater' shirt (as my boys call them - I hate the term, so excuse me for saying it!), but really, where is my beautiful smocked dress??  LOL.

Not sure what's up with my mouth/lips - looks quite strange to me. Maybe this isn't even me. You never know with my sweet mom. Bless her heart! :)

Another Old Photo Monday. Well, I mentioned last week that my mother liked to 'set' my hair at night with those pink sponge rollers and here is proof! I have very fine, very straight hair but she was determined for me to have curls! She liked short bangs too! Bless her heart. NOt sure why my sister didn't have to have curls??  My chubby little brother is sportin' a cool hair style too. LOL.

I believe this was an attempt for a Christmas card photo. Look at my skirt with the cute pony :) ...

 

And this is obviously an 'out take'. Looks like my brother is about to fall down the steps, but I am ever so watchful (with a nice view of my curls!) ...

Another week, another old photo of me. One of my many dance recitals. That's me second from the right with the girl behind me just about to pull my tail off while she stops for a pose!! LOL. Notice I am all serious,watching my steps and once again I am stylin' my little pig tail knobby things. Most certainly a favorite style of my mothers. Once I got a bit older she couldn't get enough of setting my hair in those pink foam rollers. She was determined to have a girl with curls! ;)

Old Photo Monday and more pictures of me being attacked by a goat!

A few weeks ago, I posted another photo of an older me and a goat. Seems like goats really like me and my parents like to take pictures of me while they are attacking me! LOL.  I really wish I had better photos of my childhood and that the ones I do have were better quality. My parent's camera obviously did not have a zoom lens, all the photo are from so far away.

Old Photo Monday

This week, my old photo is of me reeling in a BIG fish (looks like just an ole cat fish). Our family was on vacation in Florida (I grew up in Illinois) and out on a fishing boat. Not sure of my age, probably about 1o or 11. Got to love my classy 'fishing' attire, non-matching hat and all!

 

And Griff is rolling on the floor laughing SO hard at these photos.

Another week, another old photo. Me at about 5 years old with some goats! (I mentioned last week that I seem to be hanging with animals a lot when I was young). I love how my hair is 'styled'  into those little pig tail knobby things ...

Me at age 1 or 2? Doesn't look like anyone was very close to me while I was riding (except for whoever was taking the picture), but looks like I am holding on tight! I don't really have many photos of myself growing up, but for some reason (we did not live on a farm), many of the ones I do have include animals!

Old Photo Monday

My siblings and I (the blondie) in our matching sweat shirts at Mackinac Island. My little brother liked to wave ;). We traveled there there a few times for family vacations, I believe these photos were on our first trip there. I can even remember later trips and riding tandem bikes around the island , me in the back of my older brother and never peddling! And all the fudge shops, as well as the Grand Hotel with it's long, long porch. I always wanted to go back as an adult, but haven't as of yet.

I was looking through some old photos last week to post for 'Old Photo Monday" and Connor was still home - he couldn't get over how I look just the same as I did as a child. His words ... "jeez mom, your the same little kid ... just  a lot older."

This is a photo of myself and my siblings: Scott, Debra, me and Marc. I'm the blondie one with the cheesy smile! My sister was such a little tom boy (notice her robe, I am sure it must have been a hand me down from my big brother).

Old Photo Monday

I have been wanting to do this, but keep forgetting. Thanks, Christina! My photo today is not that old ... but then again it is!! ;) This is me back in my college days. I was  22 years old, just a little older than Barret, who is 21 (turning 22 this November)! 

I have to say, some things never change. I am sitting here at my computer wearing a Lacoste polo shirt, and white shorts (Bermuda, not the short-shorts I am sure I was wearing), my hair is very much the same (a bit shorter with help from highlights, as well as color to cover the gray roots, not the natural blond I was), some 'well earned' (3 boys later) wrinkles ;),  oh and of course, I am not quite the skinny minnie I once was ...  28 years later!!
