but this time I messed up while checking out.  During my ordering frenzy (items sell out quickly so it's a race!) something went wrong and I ended up with only 2 items total - one being a men's tie, so I didn't score well at all :(. Even though it is still 'summer' here in Fl, we have had a bit of change in weather. Cooler mornings and evening (as well as 2 days straight now of non-stop rain).

While I still wear plenty of Lilly during the fall and winter months, I do add in some of my other favorite designs .. namely Tory Burch, J.Crew.

Growing up in the north, I LOVE winter clothes .. sweaters, boots, jackets, jeans, tights! So ... as soon as the temps drop under, oh say 85 degrees I get out my winter wear!

Birthday Celebrations

A big weekend for birthdays .. Dan on Saturday and me on Sunday!

I had a nice day of shopping on Saturday at the annual Lunch with Lilly.

I completely forgot to take pictures though. 

 

My husband gave me a very generous gift card as one of my bday gifts

And this on order. I am going to 're-gift' my other to one of my boys.

 Saturday evening celebration dinner at Luma on Park.

We also celebrated Bear's new job. He has been working for the past 6 weeks or so, and while this is a great job that he is enjoying, the new one is really great! He worked very at getting this job and it has been many months of interviews (I think 6 total). He starts a week from today .. and will soon be moving out (see how great this job is?!) and be on his own (i.e. paying all his own bills: insurance, phone, rent, etc.). My boy is all grown up! So proud of him. 

Our waiter brought us champagne. Dan is 'pretending' .. he doesn't drink!

Birthday cupcakes ...

 

Since Sunday was my birthday, we just had to eat out again .. birthday girls don't cook on their special day;). Nice dinner at Houston's (now called Hillstone, but it will always be Houston's to me). No pictures (all my boys despise me pulling out the camera). Just this beautiful sunset  ...

We were missing Connor this weekend and although he is on spring break this week, he chose to go to Destin beach instead of coming home. Of course, that's what spring break is all about for college students. Miss him though.

 

I wanted to record Griff's letters to us on our cards. He is quite the writer! .. a smart boy, remembered both our correct ages ;). BTW, my husband does not golf every day!

Lilly Photo of the Week!

The lovely Miss Janice featured me again on her blog, Etiquette With Miss Janice. This time, Griff was the 'star' (the first guy, I believe) of 'The Lilly Photo of the Week'! Way to go Griff ;). I was late to my pilates class, due to my unexpected on line shopping! The sale sold out in no time (hours), but I managed to score the lovely Seamus dress and this beautiful clutch. I have coveted the dress for months now and it was an amazing deal!

It's Fall!

Even here in Florida, the temperatures have finally dropped a bit. It was 65 degrees early this morning! Up in the mid 80's now, but still such a nice break from the heat and humidity. Great football weather - I'm off to Griff's game in a short while.

Cover-ups!

I hope you all don't think I am just going to be parading around the country club pool in my new bikinis ... um, no way - I am not that brave. Truth be told, I really don't even spend time in the sun anymore (I currently have a set of 6 stitches in my back from a 'little' basil cell skin cancer surgery I had last week - thanks to many childhood/teen years of being in the sun without protection). For the past 15++ years I have been very careful with sun exposure. While at the beach, I am always under a huge umbrella, wearing a large hat, completely covered in sun screen. Same goes for the pool - unless I am swimming. I wear sun screen every day, regardless of what I am doing, always put it on (I live in Florida!!). On a side note - self tanner is my best friend ;)

So ... I purchased a few cute cover-ups to wear over my new suits or just wear around during these horribly hot and humid summer days (record highs here in FL this week!).

Swim Suit Season

Well, I can not believe I am going here...swim suits or even more shocking - bikinis! Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine I would ever wear a bikini again, but with the 'new me', I am going for it!

 I have been on a mission (obsession!) shopping for new swim suits and have purchased a few, some at great prices.

And ... thank you all for the nice comments about my hair! Seems that the consensus -both in real life and blog land - is it is a 'winner' and that I look younger, which it is all about! ;) Next on my 'list' is taking care of my smile lines (nasolabial folds). Since I have lost weight they are really bad :(. Once I get the braces off and have the lines taken care of I can smile big! SO much work and maintenance in growing old!

Lilly Pulitzer Jubilee Retro Event

This was held at 'my' Lilly store this past Saturday and of course I was there. I did a little shopping and visited with the gals that work there. I love chatting with the 'Lilly girls', most who are college students. They had a collection of vintage Lilly clothes on display. The men's jackets were especially fun to see.

 

I also wanted to give an update on my cervical spine (neck) issue. After my 3rd epidural steroid injection, I did get a few weeks of pain relief. I only had a very dull pain and it was very manageable ... I was so relieved to be free of pain!! As of a week ago, the pain has returned and is worse than ever before. Tylenol and/or Advil is not helping at all. The pain keeps me up at night and I am miserable!. I have an appointment with a orthopedic spine specialist tomorrow and think that I am most likely going to have to have surgery to correct to herniated disc - something I am not at all looking forward to :(

It was not in the stores in NYC or I am sure I would have purchased it then.  I an trying to be patient and wait for it to go on sale, but I'm afraid it may be sold out by then. I am usually good about waiting for my J crew things to go on sale, but ... Oh, what's a girl to do!?!! ;)

J. Crew Lovin'

I had some time this weekend to do some shopping at both the J. Crew store and the J.Crew outlet. I also received a tip through one of the J. Crew blogs (yes, there are a few J. Crew lovin' blogs) about J.Crew shoes currently in some of the TJ Maxx stores. I rarely go shopping there, never seem to find anything and I really do not have the patience to look through rack after rack, but I lucked out this time. I went over to Clearwater on Sunday to visit my mother and there just happens to be a TJ Maxx close to her. Look what I found ... the heels were all $19.99 each and the flats $14.99. I bought everything they had in my size ;) ...

 

  

Saturday, I made it to both J. Crew stores. On a side note: we have some great outlet malls. The down side is they are about a half hour drive drive for me which is not bad...but they are both in tourist town, USA! Not my favorite area to be. Worth it though once in a while ;).

I was so happy that it was finally a nice day and a bit cool towards the evening and game time. Nice to be able to wear jeans and dress up a bit. Most of the games are hot as h*ll! Not my idea of a good time, much less trying to look good ;)

For the Love of Lilly!

It's no secret that I love Lilly (see post below) and I am fortunate that a signature Lilly store opened here about 2 years ago. It is just a few short minutes from my home in down town Winter Park. This weekend, they had a big sale and of course, I had to stop in. I came home with some lovely items at great prices...

Darling pink dress, 2 ruffle front, short sleeve (elbow length) blouses (blue/white stripe & pink/green/white check), cable knit sweater (will NOT be wearing this for some time!), a tunic-style night gown, a bee charm bracelet, and 2 pairs of shoes (I wore the bee flip flops today, as you can see by my toe marks!)

I also bought this seer sucker suit (pants & blazer) at Ann Taylor on sale for ... $56!! (not a great photo, much cuter in person!) ...

And ... since I am spilling here ( I do LOVE to shop), I'll also share two other items I purchased from another favorite store, J McLaughlin. This store is also right here in WP, but they didn't have my size in these items, so I had to order them, Navy & white tunic top (I love tunics) and shirt dress ...

Girlie Girls

It's no secret that I LOVE girls and I am obsessed with cute, adorable little girl clothes. Nothing new, I always have been. I even bought a few baby girl dresses each time I was pregnant.

Somehow, I came across this blog a while back and just love seeing all the fabulous, custom made girl clothes. While many of the items are a bit 'over the top' for my taste (I prefer and adore traditional baby/girl clothing - smocking, bishop dresses send me over the moon!), some items are just darling.

For the Love of Lilly

I can not believe that Costco has Lilly dresses for little girls for $26+! Of course, I had to buy one for my God daughter, just because.

 

And, speaking of the love of Lilly, we are loving our little kitty. She is quite the poser, with her paws placed so nice and lady like :) ...

NY Shopping

Well ... since I received a few requests, I'll share a bit of my shopping. I must start by saying, that yes, I do love to shop but I am a very 'picky' shopper. I have become even more selective as I have grown older. I really do not buy all that much anymore (Dan would beg to differ!). I have a certain style and usually know exactly what I want. I also know what clothes and designs fit me best. If I like a certain item, I tend to buy it in bulk! Usually, not all at one time, but for example, I love Lacoste & Lilly polo shirts, they fit me well, so these are the only ones I wear (pretty much my summer day 'uniform' with bermuda shorts).

So ... I had a few items on my list for my NY shopping. Remember, it was my birthday and I opted to shop for clothes, etc. for my gift, rather than receive jewelry. Dan and the boys have been SO good to me in this department and I have all that I need right now. Being my 50th, I probably should have asked for a more meaningful gift, but shopping is so much fun in NY!

:: I bought these, Citizen of Humanity white jeans at Saks ...

   

And these Citizen of Humanity bermuda shorts (sure do wish my stomach was that flat!) ...

:: White blouses - I have a thing for crisp white cotton blouses. I bought a plain white long sleeve (needed a new, fresh one) and a cute, ruffled front short sleeve from Brooks Brothers .

Dan & Griff also did some shopping at Brooks Brothers. Griff was in need of shorts - he has outgrown all of his - and we found the cutest khakis. One pair with blue stitched sail fishes, another with red lobsters and a pair of madras plaid. SO happy that Griff actually picked these out himself (he is very picky). They are not pictured on the website, bit maybe I can get Griff to model a pair or 2 for a photo!

:: I always like to get a makeover while in NY, so I went to one of my very favorite stores, Henri Bendel and had my makeup done with Laura Mercier - not her in person, although she was at the store on Thursday, darn it, I missed her. If I would have know, I would have been there! I already used L Mercier products, but I bought a few new items, one being a bronzer. I have never used one before, but was told I need to! I try not to get any sun and a little bronzer helps to warm up my face a bit. Henri Bendel  also carries the most exquisite and extensive collection of hair accessories - headbands, barrettes, clips and pony holders. I bought a pretty pony holder with a pink jeweled flower. I also bought a pretty set of 2 enamel pink & gold bracelets.

:: I stopped by Sephora and bought my favorite scent, Amazing Grace (lotion, shower gel and perfume set)

:: Of course, I had to visit the American Girl Store. Oh, how I love it there! I spent about 15 minutes watching a few dolls at the beauty stop getting new 'do's' :) and I bought this little picnic set and bunny & book for my god daughter (part of her easter gift).

:: This is about it for me. I did find a few sale items at Banana Republic, J Crew, the Gap and a Lilly dress and skirt (can't find a photo), both on sale at Bloomingdales.

:: And, my big purchase item. A new Louis Vuitton bag. I love bags (and shoes!) and really buy very few purses any more, but the ones I do buy are lovely - my guilty pleasure. I have owned a few of the traditional LV monogrammed bags in the past and still have them, but now I prefer a more understated style. Dan bought me this bag for Christmas (in the armante color, dark - almost black) and I was thrilled - I love it so and have used it exclusively since I received it. I wanted a spring/summer purse, so this is the one I chose, the Alma bag.

Almost everything I bought I could most likely get here, since we do have these stores, but it is much more fun in NY. Plus, all the stores are much larger and carry much more inventory than our stores here.

:: Griff bought a few items at FAO Schwarz. He really liked the Harry Potter Store - the only one like it in the world and he bought a neat globe puzzle and a birthday gift for dad too! We had these things shipped, so haven't received them yet. I will have to take of photo of Dan's gift - very cool. This is what I liked at FAO ...

Babies!! Although, they all look like boys! What's with all the blue?! So cute, the girl working the 'nursery' was wearing a nurses uniform, complete with the old fashion white hat! This baby looks like it could be mine :) Griff thought I was totally wacked taking pictures of these babies. I stopped myself from buying one, although I really want one (a PINK one!) ...

So there you are ... yes, I love to shop.
