Poor Griff broke his wrist while at football practice last week ...
And, this happened while I was in Ireland.
So, so hard not being there for him and I came close to coming home. He was in great care though, with my dear friend who he was staying with (I owe her big time!) .. and Mr. B, the director of his school, who drove him from school to the doctor and stayed with him the entire time. His big brother, Barret was also a huge help. He had just returned home from NYC and met him at the orthopedic office that evening and again the next day for more x rays, etc. He was just so relived that he wasn't in charge of him and his follow up care! Again, thank you Michelle!!
Griff is currently in a splint and sling due to the swelling, but should be having a cast placed this Wednesday.
And .. as if this wasn't enough, he also contacted impetigo! You can see it on his upper lip in the picture. I (as did everyone else) thought it was from the football injury, but it got much worst the following days. Again, my sweet friend had to take Griff to yet another doctor (our pediatrician) for care. He is on an antibiotic and it is clearing up well ... luckily it did not spread to any other body parts.
All this from my boy who rarely gets sick and has never had any sports related injuries. His brothers both said it's about time he joins them with his share of injuries. I could certainly do without any more.

oh my goodness...poor fella
oh i hope he heals quickly!!

O my gosh Melissa! Poor, poor baby, both of you! I know how hard that must have been being so far away. What a terrible break, you can really see it. Barrington broke his collar bone and had a concussion from a snow board accident last year and they decided to take him to the hospital in Tahoe after he wasn't making sense while I was still on the long drive there, so I know how it is a little to not be there. Its really hard on them to be put out of the game for a while too. Other than that, I must say how envious I am of you in Ireland!! We are off to join my parents in Hilton head on Wed, but IRELAND! Hopefully one day and I hope you have such a lovely time and take a million pics for us to see. And that you can relax with such great friends to trust with your youngest. Keeping you all in my prayers,.

How miserable for Griff and how hard for you to have been away at the time :( Glad you're back home and that he's mending.

Yikes! You're very lucky that he was in such good hands, but I know how hard it must have been for you to be so far away.
Hugs,

Oh, I am so sorry to hear about Griff and his accident. I hope he makes a full and speedy recovery. I know he is disappointed that he will miss the rest of the season. I'll keep him in my prayers.

Oh my, I gasped when I saw G's photo...and then before I even read your post I looked at the photo and realized that he must have broken his wrist. I am so sorry. I cannot imagine what a helpless feeling it must have been to not be able to be there with him. I hope he feels better soon and heals without any problems. Welcome home mom!!!

Ouch! Nothing worse than your child being sick or injured while you are away. And, I am sure from Griff's perspective, nothing worse than an injury in the midst of the season. Hope he heals quickly!
