This past Thursday, we flew up to Memphis and then drove to Oxford for the weekend to visit the campus of Ole Miss. Connor attended orientation and will be attending this fall (mid August) ... he's a Rebel!
This was my first trip to Oxford (Dan & Connor have been in the past for a football game) and I absolutely love this beautiful, little town .. with fabulous shops and restaurants on The Square.
The campus is so pretty and pristine
Lunch at the City Grocery
Cameron (a friend and Ole Miss student), Connor, DCal and Griff
Connor missed the memo to wear a blue shirt and Griff to wear sun glasses!
The Oxford Courthouse on the Square
Dinner at The Downtown Grill
Cocktails on the balcony of Rooster's Blues House
Dinner at Boure'
Shrimp & Grits for D & C
It was so hot and steamy after an evening rain - foggy lens and bad hair!
We also had lunch at the Ajax Diner (no pictures though - I am lucky to get the ones that I did on this trip with boys who despise me pulling out my camera) ... real southern, comfort food, but I had a grilled chicken salad! ;)
The Grove at Ole Miss
On Saturday, we drove back to Memphis, spent the night at the Peabody Hotel and had dinner at the famous Rendezvous. Dan and Connor have been before and could not wait for those ribs. Griff managed to put down a full slab himself. I had a salad!
Peabody ducks (iphone photo) ..
Rendezvous!
Such a fun trip. I can not wait to return to Oxford in August ...
It looks like you had a great time! You have a gorgeous family!

Glad to read that your family had a wonderful time.Is Connor continuing his studies at Old Mis? If so what is he studing? While staying in Memphis did you go shopping at Vineyard Vine? I would love to take a trip just to stay at the Peabody Hotel, shop at Vineyard Vine, and eat the great food. I noticed you had a very nice Louis Vuitton bag. Do you mine telling me which bag that is? I am in the market for a new one with straps since we are having our third child in a couples of weeks and I need a bag with straps instead of the Speedybag that I have with no straps.

Judson is going to Ole Miss in the fall. We were at the first undergrad orientation and stayed at the Inn. Unfortunately they are booked solid for move in weekend, so we'll have to slum it at the Hampton!
AirTran has such cheap flights from Atlanta to Memphis that we've already made plans for at least one trip--the Kentucky game. Probably won't be able to fit in any others, though, with GT and Nebraska games as well as still having one in high school.
I definitely fell in love with that town! And the former dean of Nebraska's JSchool is now the dean at Ole Miss--he moved home (my brother and I are both NU JSchool grads).

Oxford is a beautiful town. My son-in-law is a graduate of the law school there. They drive from Tupelo to eat in Oxford all the time. In fact, they were there Saturday during the hail storm! Best of luck to him. You will enjoy visiting I'm sure!

Thanks so much for getting in touch! It was amazing to run into you Melissa!! You have a gorgeous family and Britton thinks your new Rebel is very cute. She will be a HS senior next year but maybe we can all meet up again next year! All my father's family lives in Oxford so we hope to get there one way or another again soon. I will give a link back here tomorrow, if you don't mind, when I post about you!! lol

I think it's so nice when one's children chose to go to college in a really great place for their parents to visit! Enjoy!

I was going to say that Kim's son will be a freshman at Ole Miss but I see she already posted! What made Conner decide to switch schools? I see that happening with my son that is going to Arkansas this year. Just don't see it being a good fit but he may surprise me. I pushed very hard for SMU for him but didn't win.
You have had a very busy summer so far. You look awesome and very healthy. I need your drive and motivation desperately!
